How does Lincoln BlueCruise work?
Lincoln BlueCruise allows the driver to take their hands off the wheel while keeping their eyes on the road on certain highway sections, while the system helps accelerate, brake and steer the vehicle within its lane. A driver-facing camera helps make sure the driver keeps their eyes on the road while the system provides active assistance.
This feature is compatible with prequalified sections of divided highways called Hands-Free Blue Zones, covering more than 200,000 km of North American roads.
BlueCruise is designed to make highway travel easier and more confidence-inspiring, while helping keep the driver actively engaged with the road ahead.
An assistance system
Although Lincoln BlueCruise enables hands-free highway driving in certain conditions, the driver must remain attentive at all times and keep their eyes on the road.
- 1. BlueCruise works only on prequalified sections of divided highways called Hands-Free Blue Zones.
- 2. The system is available as an option in addition to Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control. It can help accelerate, brake and steer the vehicle within its lane on the highway when conditions are appropriate.
- 3. The driver must stay attentive at all times. A driver-facing camera monitors driver attention, and driver attention alerts may appear if the driver's gaze is away from the road for too long.
